Kathy Chardet

For me, hairdressing isn’t just an industry I’ve worked in for over 30 years – it’s a lifestyle. It’s how I’ve formed lifelong friendships and made many wonderful memories.

John St has a team of talented hairdressers and that's why the salon continues to flourish. There’s a great ambience on a busy day and it’s always satisfying to see our clients leave the salon feeling positive and confident.

In the future I see John St continuing to evolve. I still get a buzz out of staying up-to-date with current industry trends, products and techniques and I understand the importance of constantly advancing our skillset.

If I’m not hairdressing, you’ll find me spending time with my family or escaping to Lake Taupo for some rest and relaxation. You may even find me doing a spot of trout fishing – but that’s another story.

With 17 years experience in the industry I love all aspects of hairdressing but particualy cut and colour. I get great satisfaction from sending clients out feeling better than when they came in.

Working at John St has inspired me in so many ways. We have a great team here and I have learnt so much working along side Kathy – she is a great hairdresser and the best boss.

Using Keune has been great too. Their colours are nourishing on the hair and come out so shiney. My favourite products are Volume Powder and Blow Dry Spray.

In my spare time my family and I love to take our dog on adventures and go for walks to the beach and around Wellington's walkways.

I'm a third year apprentice who enjoys keeping up with the latest hair trends and techniques. My favourite aspects of hairdressing are colouring and hair ups.

At the moment I'm learning my cuts and getting ready to sit my final assessments.

In my spare time, I am usually online shopping for makeup or watching makeup tutorials. I'd like to finish my hairdressing qualification and then continue with futher study in the beauty industry.

My time so far at John St has been an amazing experience. I have gained so much knowledge working alongside stylists who have strengths in a range of different areas.
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing a client walk out feeling confident and satisfied with their new look.

I've been hairdressing for 12 years and there are lots of reasons why I love my job. For example the chats I have with clients and the friendships that have grown over the years.

I really love cutting – you can change the way someone feels in such a short space of time. I enjoy the challenge of creating a new look for my clients and appreciate the trust they put in me. Recently I entered the Keune comp which was a lot of fun.

I'm currently in the salon Monday, Thursday and Saturday. When im not in the salon I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two children aged four and six. I'm also a keen baker and part of the "Good bitches baking" group.

I look forward to seeing you in the Salon.

I enjoy giving my clients a fantastic salon experience and I love the lifestyle flexibility my hairdressing career gives me.

I'm currently a third year apprentice finishing up my final year. My favourite aspects of hairdressing are hair ups, braiding and colouring. I love following fashions trends and I think a hair style completes a look.

I love challenging myself and working towards self-improvement. To think I struggled with a French braid in my first year! Now I learn new braids almost weekly.

When I'm not working I'm either watching YouTube tutorials on braids I've discovered, or feeding my unhealthy addiction to online shopping.

I can't wait to see how my career unfolds and grows as I continue to learn with this amazing team beside me
